It had been a while since I last visited Paris. The previous trip was also for work, but I remember the grandeur of Place Vendôme (where the show took place),sweet macarons and experiencing the 'French way' of using perfume in a boutique. This time we went to Paris to presentmy own collection.I've been preparing for this during the entire year, and I couldn't believe that it was actually happening.I had a feeling though,that something very nice was going to happen. Shoes for the long trip: SUSIE Wind. First time wearing them, I love what the blue suede does to the whole look. Our flight landed at Charles de Gaulle airport in the late evening.We checked-in to the hotel and went out for dinner.Kyu is certainly talented atfinding nice places for dinner,this local bistrot became our daily spotduring the trip. First dinner in Paris, I loved this salad with tomato and watermelon. and the chandelier made with napkins :) Melted candles and vintage-looking glasses. Our hotel was only about 20 minutes away from the Eiffel tower.Praying that our trip becomes a joyful one with wonderful outcomes,we walked down to the Eiffel tower andenjoyed the night scene.Interestingly, French people love to have outdoor karaoke here.We were listening to strangers singing. At a local boulangerie Wherever we go, breakfast is a very important part of the day.And of course, we cannot miss a whole baguette in the morning when we're in Paris.It was a big joy for us. On the first day, we headed to Musée d'Orsay.Always visit where you want to go the most first, our rule.The morning walk was amazingly beautiful. Eiffel tower by the day, across the river. Since we could only visit the museum once,we began with the top floor collections.This time, Berthe Morisot's works touched my heart deeply.Tender yet unconventional, things that only a woman artist could catch- beloved items by the powder room, butterfly catching picnic, the way a young lady is looking at her baby...Also the delicate lines and touches portraying each person, movement and the object exquisitely. Cedric Grolet at Le Meurice Across the street, the sign of 'Gagosian' and the shades of blue seen through the windowcaught my eyes.It was a new show by Sterling Ruby.We saw the other version of the work couple years ago, so it was a must see.I felt the artist is immersed into the topic more deeply now.The blue, collage, black charcoal, and the space curated as if it was 2D but 3D at the same time.It was a fantastic world formed in the middle of the city. The next day, walked around Marais district.We wanted to go to Musée du Louvre, but we were too tired from the day beforeand we wanted to spend a day roaming around the city. Also, Kyu wanted to try a sandwich from one of the stores at Marais.I don't know how he always has something he wants to try. but he is also a good photographer. TASHA in Paris. I love the colour of this city. There were so many lovely storesalong the street.We entered a fruit store to buy an apple for lunch,and the carrots looked so beautiful... caught my eyes instantly. Wondering where we should go next,we decided to go to Picasso Museum.They certainly didn't have masterpieces - maybe because it is Picasso the artist's personal collection he kept upon his death after selling or donating all the major works - but it was very interesting to see how he developed his concepts.I was especially marveled at the small models he made while experimenting with Cubism.He actually made them before realising them in his paintings. There were works of other artists, too, such as Matisse. Marguerite by Matisse. Some of you might know, that my Spring-Summer 2020 collection was inspired by this painting.I actually drew this in my sketchbook with watercolour, too.I was very happy to see the actual work up close, and see what colour it actually is.(not like many different versions of digital scans or book prints) 'Still life with oranges' by Henri Matisse. A Small Paper Guitar. Picasso's experiments with Cubism. Another experiment, also with some brush strokes. One of his last drawings, a young painter. The building was lovely, too.And the sky!We were so grateful for the amazing weather we had during our stay. Musé Picasso Paris Then we headed to Fondation Alaïafor a coffee meeting.There was an exhibition going on, of his couture pieces inspired by Africa.The collection was relatively small,but it was a rare opportunity to see his couture works up close, well curated. Atelier Alaïa. Is this where he worked? What I wanted to wear the most. On my way to a dinner at pizzeria! It was the day before our show installation day.We had a full, free, fun day.I felt like I became an inch closer to the city of Paris.And the pizza was one of the best I've ever had.
